So we formed Woodwize Body Solutions and began to develop our own line of products - using only natural, healthy ingredients. As we began to make our own products, we realized that we'd been cheating our skin by using store-bought brands. All those unpronouncebable ingredients were actually the cause of our dry skin - rather than the cure as they claimed to be. The Woodwize Mission: "to develop, promote, and distribute affordable skin care products that are natural and beneficial for healthy skin."All of our products are made with natural ingredients including 100% cold-pressed hemp seed oil. Ingredients"Unrefined" Hemp Seed OilHemp seed oil's health benefits and unique versatility provide many advantages as an ingredient in personal care products. More than 75% of the fatty acids in hemp seed oil are polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), known for their excellent emollient and lubricating properties. Hemp seed oil also has the lowest amount of saturated fatty acids, at 8%. Clinical studies have shown PUFAs, specifically Omega-6 Linoleic Acid (LA) and Omega-6 Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA), when applied externally can alleviate or even remedy skin problems such as dryness, atopic eczema, and psoriasis. These tests have shown specifically that the effects of dry skin; scaling or cracking that can be caused by essential fatty acid (EFA) deficiency can be reversed by skin care products containing Omega-6 fatty acids, thus reducing the potential of Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL). The proven anti-inflammatory properties of LA and GLA can further aid in the healing of minor skin irritation and disease. Hemp seed oil softens, soothes and promotes flexibility by working between surface cells, helping to lubricate, reduce flaking and revive the skin's intercellular lipids."Unrefined" African Shea ButterYou have probably heard of shea butter. If you haven't used it for your skin condition, we encourage you to try it. The reason shea butter is being talked about so much today by skin care experts is that its healing fraction -- the percentage of shea butter's composition that is a natural medication -- is much higher than the percentage in any other moisturizer.There are two types of moisturizers: petroleum-based moisturizers and active moisturizers. Petroleum-based moisturizers work by creating a moisture barrier between your skin and the air. Since this barrier lasts for at most a few hours, in order for petroleum-based moisturizers to work, they need to be re-applied every few hours. Aside from the fact that this is very inconvenient and makes your skin feel greasy all of the time, it has the very bad effect of making it impossible for your skin to breathe. Active moisturizers work by restoring the skin's elasticity so that the skin cells themselves can trap the moisture and thus make your skin softer and keep it from becomming dry. The high percentage of unsaponifiables found in shea butter contribute to its ability to heal eczema, psoriasis, rashes, severe dry skin, burns, wounds, parasitic infections, and more.Shea butter protects, heals and improves skin better than any other single oil presently known.Vitamins A & E: shea butter is very high in vitamin A. In combination with vitamin E shea butter is highly effective in cell regeneration and anti-aging.Shea butter greatly improves the look and feel of skin. We have recently begun using unrefined hempseed oil and unrefined African shea butter. Please scroll below to read why we use these special ingredients.How do you make your soap at Woodwize?We use the cold process method to handcraft our soap. We make small batches for better quality control and hand pour the soap into molds that we made ourselves. Each bar is then hand cut. We let each batch air dry and cure on racks. After curing is complete, we wrap each bar in labels we create ourselves for that extra touch of personal attention. We are committed to making quality soap for your pleasure. We think you will love it!Do you use lye to make your soap?Yes, we do use lye, but the finished soap has absolutely no trace of lye left. We use 100% sodium hydroxide, as it is one of the ingredients that is required to handcraft soap. Oils are mixed with a sodium hydroxide/liquid solution to create soap. Soapmaking is not just a craft; it is an art and a science as well. Soap results from a chemical reaction (saponification) between fats (which are the oils... the acids) and lye (which is the base). Years ago, in days gone by, lye was made from wood ashes, but today we use 100% Sodium Hydroxide. Why is your handcrafted soap better than the commercial soap that I can buy?Commercial soap does not have the glycerin that is naturally found in handcrafted soap. Our soap retains glycerin which helps your skin hold its natural moisture. Commercial soap is actually a detergent. The glycerin that the commercial companies take out is sold to lotion companies. You need more lotion after using commercially made detergent products, because without the glycerin, your skin dries out. Our handcrafted soaps retain all the skin loving ingredients you need. You will find that your skin doesn't really need lotion after using our handcrafted soap. Your skin will seem much softer because of the natural moisturizing ingredients we use in our soap. We use pure oils and other ingredients that gently lift dirt from your skin. It won't clog your pores and it will make your skin feel great.
